This invasive insect poses two problems, it can be a serious agricultural pest and a significant household nuisance. Eventually, farmers might suffer serious damage to their crops. It is already happening to dozens of fruit, vegetable, ornamental and field crops in the mid-Atlantic states. With luck, our cooler, shorter growing season will slow the insect’s increase, compared to warmer states.Click on the link in the sidebar for more information as well as this direct link to UNH Cooperative Extension.

This beetle arrived in the US from Asia and attacks many species of hardwood trees. The nearest infestation is in Worcester, MA where close to 30,000 trees have been cut and chipped to prevent the beetle from spreading. It is a threat to NH forests and landscapes. RGN is a participant of the Sentinal Project. Click on the sidebar link for more details.
